Best Alternative Healthcare Services Provider 2018

For the second year running, The ADO Therapy team have picked up the prize of annual winners in the GHP Social Care Awards. This year, we are double winners in London and South-East for, 'Best Alternative Healthcare Services Provider' and 'The GHP Excellence Award For Animal Therapy'. This is a tremendous achievement for a small social enterprise and highlights the progress we make every year with our provision, offering our unique services to a wide range of the community, individuals, families and professionals.

Kallum's Good For Number 6

Hot on the heels of our recent winner, Kallum Goodchild becomes our 6th Jack Petchey Achievement Award winner. Kallum is one of our ADO Mentors and another committed young person who helps out in many areas. I'm sure Kallum is an entrepreneur in the making, as our first memories of him helping was at a fund raising event nearly four years ago, when he was a lot smaller, but he built his own selling stall and sold refreshments and snacks raising money for ADO. He has matured into a bright, helpful and always willing member of the Mentors team, especially during our Holiday Clubs and events. His peers voted for Kallum for his hard work in helping the younger children at Holiday Club and his great support to them when they get upset or have hurt themselves. He is always on hand to comfort them, showing great empathy. His prize money will be put towards the Low Ropes equipment we purchased to give children and young people a great opportunity to learn new adventure and physical skills. Well done Kallum!

Nominated Again!

Winners in 2017, ADO Therapy has been nominated once again for the Social Care Awards 2018. This award is distributed by industry giants Global Health and Pharma. Last year we won the Best Animal Assisted Therapy Award - South-East England. This year the system has slightly changed and we need votes from you, our friends and followers, who already know we are pioneers in alternative therapies. If you would like to vote for us, click on the voting page HERE> and at the question 'Suggested Award Title', Best In Animal Therapy would be our category.

Taylor Wins For Number 5

A big well done to Taylor Thomas, who becomes ADO's 5th Jack Petchey winner. Taylor is one of ADO's Young Leaders and has been helping in many areas of the business since taking on that role. She is a great all rounder who can adapt herself to many of the roles required at ADO. Taylor has gained valuable work experience working as part of the ADO support team for many events over the last couple of years and is a valued member of the ADO team. She was voted by her peers for many reasons, but primarily for her kind, committed, helpful mentoring, always with a big smile across her face at all times. Her prize money will be put towards the Low Ropes equipment we purchased to give children and young people a great opportunity to learn new adventure and physical skills. Well done Taylor!

That New Alternative Healthcare...Its Called Animal Therapy!

If ADO had not been working with snakes since 2009 for therapeutic purposes, you would have thought this news was simply amazing! Its hardly hot off the press for all those organisations and individuals that we have worked with over the years. Snakes are being used in the mainstream at a top London clinic to help patients overcome low self-worth and "communication issues". In fact ADO already work with our own snakes to cover a whole range of mental and physical ill health and disabilities, as we do with the other 50-odd other species we have. Its hardly news for us here at ADO, but good news that finally Animal Assisted Activities and Therapy are starting to get recognised in the mainstream.

Co-op Local Community Fund

Do you do a bit of shopping at the Valliers Wood  Co-op Supermarket on Halfway Street, Sidcup?

If so, you will be helping raise funds for ADO! Shoppers that purchase Co-op branded products and services will raise money for ADO right up until the end of October 2018. Yes, that's a whole year of fundraising. ADO will also recieve an equal share from the sale of carrier bags.

The more you shop, the more Co-op will share with us.

Bug Hotel is Simply Exemplary !

If you remember back in June, we installed a monster ten-story bug hotel with surrounding wildlflower garden and insect loving plants at the new Lidl construction site on Upper Wickham Lane, Welling in partnership with IKON Construction. The idea was masterminded by IKON Site Sustainability Manager Iain Henderson, who was quick to get his friendly neighbours ADO involved with Community Wildlife Garden Project. The project is now coming to its natural end as the building work advances within the site footprint and the garden has now been levelled for further site works, as the store is due to open in November.
