Outdoor Education

We firmly believe in the effectiveness of outdoor education. ADO River Valley is based within a 6.5 acre site in Welling, Kent, consisting of timber classrooms (one being specifically utilised for ICT-Business based studies and exams) woodlands, stream, grazing, outdoor gym, gardens, activity arena, bushcraft - forest school – adventure sport zones, equine facilities and animal enclosures providing opportunities for an engaging and enriching curriculum, and BTEC studies that relate to vocational learning with recognised qualificatons.
Although some may not see the relevance in studying Health and Social Care in a setting like ours, we feel it is paramount that have it available to offer it to our students once there is enough uptake. Our students have specific career aims and aspirations, many of which are related to our specialist roles of caring for others. The Level 1 / 2 First Award in Health and Social Care will enable students to develop and demonstrate their knowledge, skills and understanding within the context of health and social care, and childcare.
The following areas are included in the specification:
♦ Human Growth ♦ Development ♦ Promoting and Maintaining Health and Well-Being

Potential Career Paths for Students

The Level 1 / 2 First Award in Health and Social Care is for students who have a passion or a career interest in Health and Social Care. Roles of where this could lead could include but is not limited to:
♦ Social Worker ♦ Youth Worker ♦ Community Support and Outreach Worker ♦ Occupational Therapist ♦ Activities Coordinator
This is just a very few ideas where being on our unique site alongside studying for a Health and Social Care qualifiaction may be the perfect combination. The variation of activities within the course will give students the knowledge, skills and understanding needed to explore opportunities for a career in this chosen sector in the future.
