Little Sticks

A Wildlife Corridor

Recently we received a number of shrubs and trees from the Woodland Trust for the land at Poets Corner as part of their free tree packs for the community. We ordered 30 Small Hedge Saplings and 30 Small Copse Saplings. The small hedge included species like Hawthorn, Blackthorn, Dogrose, Crab Apple, Elder and Hazel. The copse species included Rowan, Silver Birch, Wild Cherry and Maple. These little sticks of life were destined to improve the diversity on the land in a number of ways.

We would like to thank Kings Church London for their donation via the London Borough of Lewisham Family Support teams, for three large hampers to be distributed to some of our more vulnerable of service users this Christmas. The 'Big Red Box' initiative involves the community donating food to Kings Church, before being packed in a Big Red Box and then distributed to organisations who can support some of their most vulnerable service users. Thanks Kings Church London!

Explorers Just Loving Tommy

ADO have a very popular 11th winner of their Jack Petchey Achievement Award. Our first of the new school year, the award goes to Tommy Wetton. Tommy has been mentoring down at the Mini-Explorers Preschool Nursery for at least a year and a half now and is very popular with the children.

ADO Senior Manager, Kate O'Brien,  was especially pleased Tommy had won, as his academic studies have been quite intensive at the same time as supporting his mentoring role.

Tough Mudder

Friends of QVT

Our good friends at Quo Vardis Trust (QVT) are on another mission to raise money for Animal Therapy Services. QVT are a mental health charity providing supported housing in South East London and ADO have been partnering with the organisation for about 5 years now. As all housing charities are finding it harder to raise sufficient funding to provide activities and programmes for their residents, especially as London Borough funding has been severely cut, they are having to think outside the box to raise revenue to meet their obligations.
