9th Jack Petchey Winner is Bo'e

A big well done to our 9th Jack Petchey Achievement Award Winner in what has been an amazing year for young talent working with the ADO teams. This time we are pleased to announce that Bo'e Corneille has scooped the ultimate award from her peers, the second to be nominated from those mentoring at our Mini-Explorers Preschool Nursery. Bo'e was nominated by the children for always being available to help them, especially with their cooking and being fun to be around. Bo'e has certainly built a strong affinity with the children and deservedly gets recognised for her work down at the Preschool during the extended afternoon sessions.

Bell Donate £100

We would like to say a big thanks to Bell Publishing Ltd for their donation of £100 recently. Bell Publishing Ltd is a family-owned international media and events company based in Gravesend. Editorial Director, Sarah McRitchie, explained, "Each week at head office we have a fresh fruit box delivered. The staff then give a donation for each piece of fruit they take to eat. The company matches the sum and makes a donation to a charity or not for profit organisation. On this occasion our Assistant Group Manager, Samantha Bull, suggested ADO. We were more than happy to donate to such a great cause."

The donation was used to add to the Silly Sally Fund to pay for the veterinary bills and subsequent electric fencing installed at Poets Corner.

All Rounder Tatiana Gets Awarded

Oh yes! Its a production line of young talent here at ADO, as we recently had our 8th Jack Petchey Achievement Award winner. This time the award was presented for mentoring down at our ADO Mini-Explorers Preschool. Well done Tatiana Holland-Clarke, voted by her peers at the Preschool for being very helpful, great fun and more importantly helps the children with their art and cooking projects.

Senior Manager Kate O'Brien mentioned, " Tatiana is an extremely valued mentor within ADO and we are so pleased she is able to share her expertise with the Mini-Explorers."

James Brokenshire MP Opens Roundhouse

The ADO Mini-Explorers children, staff and parents had a very special guest on Friday 11th May, when Old Bexley and Sidcup MP, James Brokenshire and his lovely wife Cathy, visited the Preschool for the official opening of our Roundhouse. We would like to thank James for taking time out of his very busy schedule in his new role in government as Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, to support us as a local community focussed company.

Lewis Sticks To His Tasks To Become A Winner

We are pleased to announce that our 7th Jack Petchey Achievement Award winner is Lewis Stickings. Voted by his peers, Lewis has been Mr Dependable for at least a year now, volunteering on a Saturday to be a key member of the animal care team. Lewis always turns up, yes even when we had thick snow recently, working the Saturday session at both Poets Corner and at the main office, cracking on with his job come rain or shine. Recently completing two weeks of work experience at ADO, Lewis, currently studying at Hadlow Animal Management College, would like to work towards becoming a Marine Biologist eventually. He's pretty handy at catching the Guinea Pigs, so marine life should be easy-peasy! He has pledged his prize money towards building a new custom made enclosure for Bertha, ADO's enormous Burmese Python. Well done Lewis, a top man!

Bob Finally Says Goodbye To Us All

When it comes to legends, Bob the Bearded Dragon was up there with the most popular animals we have ever had working with us here at ADO. Sadly he passed away yesterday evening in his sleep.

Bob joined us at the very beginning of Animal Days Out and was part of the first ever set of animals we purchased. He was already 5-6 years old in 2011, so he must have been probably 13 years old at the end. A fine innings for a Bearded Dragon!

He was very popular and with his late partner Betty, they were a great double act at events, meeting thousands of people during their formative years and helping many children, young people and adults overcome fears and giving them confidence.. He sired over 30 baby Bearded Dragons with Betty, out living some of them.

Bob will never be forgotten. RIP Bob.
