Student Excels At River Valley AP

We are pleased to announce our 14th winner of the Jack Petchey Achievement Award. Its the first time one of our students at The River Valley Alternative Provision has claimed the award. In fact RM has been accessing our AP since June 2018, our longest student on roll now!

Head of Education, Kate O'Brien, enthused, "The reason that RM has been nominated is due to his ongoing patience with other students. His calming nature has caused him to have other students lean on him which he never complains about. When RM first came to ADO he was extremely shy and reserved, he would say he didn’t want to do a lesson. It actually was that he did not feel confident enough to do the lesson, so would try to push back. RM’s self-belief has improved hugely! To the point where he recently obtained his Level 1 Unit Award in AQA Small Animal Care, Common Pet Species. It took us several months to encourage RM to put pen to paper, but we hope now he has his official certificate from AQA, this will encourage him to continue to try hard for his future". She continued, "Staff and students at ADO wanted to recognise the hard efforts that RM has made. We all recognise how difficult it has been for him, but he has done fantastically well and we are so proud of him."

RM has decided to spend his £250 on a Dog Agility Kit, so the students can have as much fun as the dogs in Adventure Sport lesson.
