ADO In The News

Owen Is Such A Good Sport

We are delighted to announce that our 17th Jack Petchey Achievement Award Winner is Owen Anderson. .Yes that's our 17th award winner. Incredible!  We can not thank the Jack Petchey foundation enough for their ongoing support for our young people and mentors and providing them with some aims and objectives in their personal development, so that when they are ready to start their careers, they can build upon the experience thay have gained with ADO. Owen works with our ADO Mini-Explorers Preschool team as a very popular mentor and its great to see how his confidence has continued to grow in his role.

Senior Manager for the Preschool Kate O'Brien enthused, "The children voted themselves for Owen, who attends the ADO Mini Explorers Nursery as a mentor every Friday. Owen has been involved with the nursery for a year now, and has grown in confidence week by week. Owen has a passion for sport and is currently studying his A Levels. He enjoys teaching the Mini Explorers new things that involve sport and the outdoors, but also is more than happy to read with them in the cosy corner. Owen has made some dear friends within the Mini Explorers students, with them asking every day, "is Owen coming today"? The children have stated that he is kind, friendly and has a big smile. He is fun and that they like him a lot. It is so special that the children have voted for Owen to win this award and that they were able to give their own individual reasons as to why they wanted him to win."

Preschool Operations Manager, Cath Epps, continued, "We would like to thank Owen for all of his help at the Mini Explorers Pre-School; The children think he is great!. He helps with fires, and cooking the popcorn, he plays football with them and spends time colouring and drawing. The children’s words were: “He is funny”, “He makes me laugh and I love him”.

Owen would like his £250 JP fund money to go towards a pizza oven built for the children to enjoy warm outdoor meals which are not easily done by cooking on a campfire! Owen would like any remaining funds to purchase some sport equipment to benefit and improve the children's physical learning.

A massive well done to Owen, it is clear you are working hard to progress through the ADO company and we look forward to seeing what is next for you.

Congratulations from all of the ADO Team!
