Uniform - Dress Code
We do not currently have a set uniform in place for our alternative provision, but as we are a specialist setting, offering many outdoor programmes a normal standard school uniform would not be practical or suitable for students.
Outdoor or Indoor Education
Our education sessions are offered within both indoor and outdoor settiings as follows:
♦ Indoor Setting in Welling Town Centre - Within our head office at Upper Wickham Lane we have 2 classrooms for students, normally for inclement weather, but additionally for certain studying and exams.
♦ Outdoor Setting, Poets Corner, Welling - This 6.4 acre site has open space, woodland and a small stream. We have mulitple shelters and covered space on site
Dress Code Requirements
For our Indoor Setting layered clothing should be used if there is a transition from indoor to outdoor during the course of a day. In general though the dress code for the indoor setting should be comfortable clothing
For our Outdoor Setting, the students will be learning all year around, so should be suitable dresses for all weathers and temperatures.
♦ Long trousers (males and females), cargo style or dark jeans that can get muddy
♦ Long sleeved tops or a short sleeved polo shirt in summer. White polos will be likely to get muddy and stained so darker colours are preferable.
♦ Jumper for layering
♦ Waterproof raincoat with a hood
♦ Waterproof Trousers (Recommended but not essential for part time. Essential for full time students)
♦ Outdoor footwear, wellies with thermal socks or preferably outdoor waterproof boots
♦ Waterproof gloves and hat in the relevant season
♦ Summer hat or cap in the relevant season
Regular snacks or lunch should be provided for students depending on the length of their stay with us.
For those children or young people on a day placement, lunch period is staggered between 11.45am and 12.45pm.
Students will need to be provided with a healthy packed lunch with extra snacks for breaks and an insulated sealable cup or small flask for hot drink refills. ADO will provide the hot water and beverages onsite during the day. Please do not include sweets or fizzy drinks as we operate a healthy eating policy at ADO.
For those on half day placements, snacks are required for breaks and an insulated sealable cup or small flask for hot drink refills.
